More than 600 local and state government, non-profit, private sector, and other adaptation professionals converged in Sacramento for the state’s inaugural California Adaptation Forum from August 19-20, 2014. Attended by Impact and Integration Team Members Kimberly Serrano and Dani Boudreau, the California Adaptation Forum highlighted both successes and challenges for the state across a range of climate impacts, including increased wildfire danger, intense heat waves, prolonged drought, rising seas, and severe storms and floods. The cross-sectoral two-day event elevated best practices from cases of adaptation planning from San Deigo to Redding, provided ample tools and resources to attendees, and challenged leaders to prioritize innovation and collaboration in local climate responses.
